Events

The New Netherland Institute organizes several annual  and occasional special events.

Alice P. Kenney Memorial Award Ceremony

The annual Alice P. Kenney Memorial Award Ceremony is customarily held in June, usually at a location of historic interest in the Albany region or the Hudson Valley.

The Award Ceremony is publicized on this website and in the Institute's quarterly newsletter De Nieu Nederlanse Marcurius.

Annual Membership Meeting

The Annual Membership Meeting is customarily held in January, usually at a location of historic interest in the Albany region, the Hudson Valley, or New York City.

Admission is free.

Members of the New Netherland Institute receive an invitation to this meeting by surface mail approximately one month prior to the meeting. If luncheon is served on the premises as part of the proceedings, attendees are requested to return the enclosed reservation form with their payment.

The meeting is publicized as well on this website and in the Institute's quarterly newsletter De Nieu Nederlanse Marcurius.

The agenda of the membership meeting, as provided by the By-Laws of the New Netherland Institute, includes reports by the President, the Secretary, and the Treasurer of the Board of Trustees, as well as reports by the chairs of Standing Committees and election of Trustees

A lecture by an invited speaker on a subject of common interest to the membership and/or a tour of the historic location where the meeting is held commonly concludes the Annual Meeting.

The New Netherland Dinner

The New Netherland Dinner is customarily held in September, on the evening following the Rensselaerswijck Seminar. The Dinner's venue depends on the place where the Seminar is held, most often in Albany.

Cost per person varies depending on the charges to the New Netherland Institute. The registration form allows for a donation to be made to benefit the New Netherland Project and the New Netherland Institute.

Members of the New Netherland Institute receive an invitation by surface mail to the Seminar and the New Netherland Dinner, which includes the programs for both events. They are publicized as well on this website and in the the Institute's quarterly newsletter De Nieu Nederlanse Marcurius.

Dinner speakers include the President of the New Netherland Institute, the Director of the New Netherland Project, and the recipient of the annual Hendricks' Award.
