Their Contributions to American Society, Culture, and the Economy
Professor Pegels was, born in a suburb of Rotterdam and immigrated to Canada at age 16 with his family. He received his advanced education in the US, culminating with a Ph.D. from Purdue University in 1966. He has always been interested in history but did not pursue it academically because he saw a better economic future in management than in history. Now retired, he is pursuing other interests of which Dutch American history is one of them.
