Well-known Dutch-Americans This directory of biographies of well-known Dutch-Americans who have accomplished much and contributed to American society, culture and economy has been created by Professor Carl Pegels. Please refer questions, comments, and additional information to him. Read the new online book, Dutch-American Entrepreurs Their Contributions to American Society, Culture, and the Economy Professor Pegels was, born in a suburb of Rotterdam and immigrated to Canada at age 16 with his family. He received his advanced education in the US, culminating with a Ph.D. from Purdue University in 1966. He has always been interested in history but did not pursue it academically because he saw a better economic future in management than in history. Now retired, he is pursuing other interests of which Dutch American history is one of them. Notes: Many of the references are to web sites. Web sites tend to be empheral.
